Araku Valley is one of the most spectacular hill destinations in Andhra Pradesh, nestled among the Eastern Ghats. Located roughly 115 km from Visakhapatnam, the valley sits at an elevation generally ranging between 600 and 900 metres above sea level.

The journey to Araku is almost as beautiful as the destination itself. Visitors travel through winding mountain roads, dense forests, valleys, streams and spectacular viewpoints. The famous railway route toward Araku passes through numerous tunnels and mountain landscapes, making the train journey a memorable experience.

Araku is particularly famous for its coffee plantations, which are closely connected with the livelihoods of local tribal communities. The valley also offers waterfalls, gardens, museums, viewpoints and opportunities to experience local traditions.

The cultural identity of Araku is equally important. More than 17 tribal communities are associated with the wider region, and the traditional Dhimsa dance is one of its best-known cultural expressions.
